Our quinta is situated in the province of Minho, also called the green heart or the garden of Portugal. Nature and sports lovers won’t easily be bored here. You can go for endless walks, go cycling or horse riding. Behind every corner you’ll discover a new landscape and small rivers and tiny waterfalls emerge everywhere.  Swimming, canoeing, kayaking or rafting also belong to the possibilities.

You’ll find lots of picturesque villages where you can pause to have a fresh pint of beer or a nice glass of wine. In this region people still make time to talk to each other, and appreciate if you make an effort to learn a few Portuguese words.

Besides nature the Minho region offers a wide range of cultural activities too. You can visit the historical towns of Braga, Guimaraes or Porto, all within a one hour drive from the quinta. Especially the university town Braga is a must for art lovers. A little bit further away – at 90 km – lies Porto with its famous port houses and bridges.

If you want to stay closer to the quinta, you might want to visit Arco de Baulhe (3km) or Cabeceiras de Basto (6km), the nearest towns where you’ll find everything you need such as bakeries, shops, ATM’s, ... and of course lots of restaurants where you can eat tasty meals at very low prices. Cabeceiras has a beautiful historical centre and  every Monday there’s a market with lots of local products.

Cabeceiras and Arco also have an indoor swimming pool.  We suggest however to go look for your own ideal swimming place. There are countless possibilities nearby, going from small streaming brooks and creeks to big rivers and lakes. Sometimes the municipalities install (free) beaches with toilets, picknick tables, barbecue areas etc.
